Supreme Apple Pie

This recipe is for those bakers out there who are undaunted by large recipes. Besides being possibly the most delicious recipe we have,  this recipe is also the ultimate Classic Apple Pie recipe. It comes fully loaded, with cinnamon, heavy cream, and 3 pounds of fresh apples! This apple pie is the BEST party dessert someone can make. It is huge! and has tons of flavor. We wouldn’t recommend baking and eating this whole pie yourself… unless you want to.

Ingredients:

  • three tablespoons of flour

  • one Deep Dish Patee Brisee
  • one egg yolk
  • one tablespoon of heavy cream
  • three of pounds of apples (a good idea is to put different types of apples into this recipe), peeled, and cut into slices that are about one-quarter inch thick.
  • two tablespoons of lemon juice
  • one quarter cup of sugar that is granulated
  • one teaspoon of cinnamon that has been already ground
  • one teaspoon of nutmeg that is ground
  • one-eighth teaspoon of salt
  • one tablespoon of unsalted butter, make sure to cut the butter into smaller pieces
  • sugar that is for sanding to sprinkle on the pie.

Directions:

  1. On a floured surface, roll one of the pate brisee discs into a 13-inch disc that is about 1/8 inch thick.
  2. press the dough for the pie into a 9-inch pie plate. Trim the dough to the outside of the pan.
  3. Freeze for at least half an hour until it is firm.
  4. Roll the remaining discs of  the pate brisee to about one-eighth of an inch thick. Place them on a pie sheet, and put them in the freezer until they are firm for about half an hour.
  5. Remove the pie from the freezer.
  6. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.
  7. Whisk together the egg yolks and cream in a small bowl, set this aside for later.
  8. Mix the apples with the lemon juice in a large bowl.
  9. Now mix the granulated sugar with the flour and cinnamon, also add the nutmeg, and salt. Remove the pie crust from the freezer, and fill it with the apple mixture, then put dots of butter o it.
  10. Put top on the pie and brush the top and edge with egg wash, and sprinkle everything with sanding sugar. Freeze until the pie is firm, at least 30 minutes.
  11. Place pie plate on a baking sheet, and bake until crust just begins to brown, about 20 minutes.
  12. Change the oven temperature to 350 degrees and resume baking for about forty minutes more. Move it to a rack to cool off.

Here is our recipe for Supreme Classic Apple Pie. It is definitely our hardest recipe but is completely worth it. This recipe is the ultimate apple pie recipe. After eating this pie you will never want a store bought apple pie again!
