Spiced Apple Pie

Spiced Apple Pie is a great holiday dessert that everyone both young and old will enjoy. It is just a regular apple pie, but with some great spices thrown in to add tons of extra flavor. It has all the sweetness and apple flavor that we know you love, but with a slight savory taste that makes this pie perfect for all those times when you are just spicing up all of your cooking, like Christmas and especially Thanksgiving.

If you are one of those people who love putting different seasoning and spices in your food then you are going to LOVE this apple pie. Spiced Apple Pie has it all, nutmeg, cloves, allspice, you name it! So just follow our recipe and you too can make a great holiday treat that will go great with your Thanksgiving Dinner.


Ingredients:

  • two pie crusts
  • one egg that you can use for wash
  • three apples, that you have peeled and sliced
  • one cup of sugar
  • two tablespoons of flour
  • one teaspoon of cinnamon
  • one-eighth of a teaspoon of nutmeg
  • one-quarter of a teaspoon of allspice
  • one-eighth of a teaspoon of ground-up cloves

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Mix the flour with the cinnamon and nutmeg, also add the allspice and cloves. Mix this in with the apples.
  3. Roll one of the crusts into a nine-inch pie plate and pout the apples with the spice on them into the pie crust.
  4. Roll out the other pie crust and put it onto the top. Seal, flute and cut slits into it.
  5. Brush the egg wash onto the top of the pie.
  6. Place into the oven and bake it for a little over an hour.
  7. Cool the pie for at least three hours.
  8. Enjoy!

I followed this recipe to make my first apple pie. The ingredients list one cup of sugar. The directions do not mention the sugar so I made the pie without it. Came out pretty good for a sugar-free pie!
