Now we all love apple pie, and I’m pretty sure a lot of you like pears also. So we came up with this great pie that uses both apples and pears! With thin slices of apple and pear mixed together in this great pie, its hard to go wrong. This pie is great for people who just can’t get enough fruit in their pie, we made sure to get this pie overloaded with pears and apples so you can enjoy even more delicious fruit with every bite.

Ingredients:

  • one pie crust, make sure it is a double pie crust
  • four peeled, sliced and cored pears
  • four peeled, sliced and cored apples
  • one half of a cup of brown sugar
  • one-quarter of a cup of sugar that has been granulated
  • one-quarter of a cup of flour (preferably all-purpose)
  • one teaspoon of already ground cinnamon
  • one-quarter teaspoon of already ground nutmeg
  • a pinch of salt
  • two tablespoons of butter that is unsalted
  • one tablespoon of cream that is light
  • one teaspoon of sugar that is granulated

Directions:

  1. Combine the sliced apples with the sliced pears, brown sugar, and one-quarter cup of sugar in a large bowl. Also throw in the flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
  2. Roll out half of the pie crust into a 12 inch circle.
  3. Place this circle into a 9 inch pie pan that is deep dish. Press it tightly into the pan
  4. Now pour the apple and pear mixture into the deep dish pan.
  5. Dot the top with butter.
  6. Roll the remainder of the dough into a 12 inch circle and put it on top of the pie.
  7. Seal the crust and cut slits into the top.
  8. Brush the top with cream and and sprinkle a little bit of sugar on top.
  9. Bake in a preheated 425 degree F oven for 50 minutes and cool for an hour.
