Caramel Rum Apple Pie is a delicious new apple pie that has everything you love about Caramel Apple Pie, but with a delicious hint of rum taste added. Anyone that loves any type of rum dessert is going to LOVE this pie! This is a Caribbean recipe that has that great caramel taste in it, besides having melt-in-your-mouth apples and a delicious caramel sauce. This pie also very easy to make and even if you have experience cooking with rum it won’t matter at all. So pull out you rum and start slicing those apples, this recipe is going to bring back memories of all those old Bob Marley tracks we all used to listen to.

Ingredients:

  • one half a cup of sugar
  • one teaspoon of pumpkin pie spice (preferably Spice Islands brand)
  • one tablespoon of corn starch
  • five peeled, cored, and sliced apples (slice them into 1/4 inch thick slices)
  • one tablespoon of lemon juice
  • one teaspoon of rum
  • one nine inch pie crust (make sure it is deep dish)
  • two tablespoons of butter
  • three tablespoons of pre-made caramel sauce
  • half a cup of flour
  • one-third of a cup of sugar that is brown
  • one-quarter of a cup of butter

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl mix together the sugar, pie spice, and corn starch.
  2. In another bowl mix the apple slices with rum, and sprinkle lemon juice over the apples.
  3. Mix the two bowls of ingredients together and stir it together.
  4. Pour the mixture into the pie crust and dot it with butter.
  5. Drizzle the pie with caramel sauce.
  6. Now mix the flour with the brown sugar and 1/4 of a cup of butter cut into chunks. Mix it until it is of a crumbly consistency.
  7. In a 400 degree F oven, bake it for ten minutes, then turn down the temperature to 350 degrees F and bake for about 45 minutes more.
