Caramel Apple Pie is very sweet, with an incredible texture, flaky crust, and an amazing caramel-apple flavor. This pie is great for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas, or any time.
Caramel Apple Pie is very easy to make and for anyone familiar with making Classic Apple Pie it is almost the same recipe. Although this pie is sweet and has lots of sugar, it is possibly the most delicious recipe out there, and everyone will love it, especially the kids!
Ingredients:
- one nine-inch double-crust pie shell
- half a cup of brown sugar
- one-quarter cup of melted butter
- one-third cup of flour
- five cups of apples that are thinly sliced
- two-thirds cup of white sugar
- three tablespoons of flour
- two teaspoons cinnamon
- one teaspoon of lemon juice
- twenty halved caramels
- two tablespoons of milk
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.
- To make caramel: mix the brown sugar,with the melted butter, mix one-third cup of flour, stir and put aside.
- To make the apple filling: put apples in a bowl, add white sugar, three tablespoons of flour, cinnamon, lemon juice, mix until apples are coated.
- Fill half of the apple filling into pan that is deep dish and has been lined with pastry. Put half the of caramels and half of taffy mixture on top of the pie. Do this again with the remaining apple filling, caramels and taffy mix. Put the top of the pastry over the filling and seal well (if edges are not sealed, caramel will spill out). Cut slits in the pie and brush the top of the crust with milk or light cream.
- Put foil on pie and place it on a sheet for baking. Bake in oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil off of the pie and bake for twenty to twenty-five minutes more.
