Apple Cream Pie

If you are looking for an exciting new type of apple pie, then you have to try our Apple Cream Pie. Although this pie is very different from our other traditional apple pies it is still delicious and is great for those who love sweet custard filling. This pie is pretty easy to make and the only slightly difficult part is making the apple cream filling. Otherwise it is just another simple apple pie recipe. So if you are just bored of regular traditional apple pies then you should definitely try Apple Cream Pie!

Ingredients:


  • one-half a cup of sugar that is white
  • one-half a cup of milk
  • one-half a cup of heavy cream
  • one-quarter of a cup of butter
  • two tablespoons of cornstarch
  • two tablespoons of milk
  • one teaspoon of vanilla
  • two sliced, peeled and cored apples
  • one tablespoon of flour that is all purpose
  • one-quarter of a teaspoon of cinnamon that is ground
  • one package of double crust pie pastry that is fifteen ounces
  • one-half a cup of confectionery sugar
  • one tablespoon of milk
  • one-quarter of a teaspoon of vanilla
  • one tablespoon of butter that has already been softened

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 Degrees Fahrenheit.
  2. Combine half a cup each of sugar, milk, cream and one-quarter of a cup of butter in a pan that is medium sized over medium temperature heat.
  3. Heat this mixture until you have melted the butter. Stir occasionally.
  4. Whisk the cornstarch together with two tablespoons of milk and vanilla in a small sized bowl.
  5. Pour the cornstarch mixture into the pan. Stir and heat until the mixture is thickened. When it becomes take it off the heat and set aside to cool.
  6. In a medium sized bowl, combine the apples with the flour and the cinnamon. Make sure you mix it together well.
  7. In a nine-inch pie pan line the pie crust and evenly pour the cornstarch mixture in it over the crust.
  8. Now put in the apple filling and put on and flute the top of the pie. Make sure to cut slits into the top of the pie.
  9. Bake the pie in the preheated oven for about thirty-five minutes. Cool for at least half an hour.
  10. Finally mix together the confectionery sugar with one tablespoon of milk, one-quarter of a teaspoon of vanilla and one tablespoon of the butter that you softened earlier.
  11. Pour this mixture on top of the baked pie and put the whole pie in the fridge for a minimum of one and a half hours.
